Jakub Andrejczyk

Jakub had previously studied at a different university, until he found a course at Northumbria which he was more interested in.

Having started a degree course and changing his mind about which degree he wanted to pursue, as well as which institution to study at, Jakub found his way to ֲýƵ’s Clearing hotline. “I knew I wanted to try something completely different, so I explored my options at Northumbria and found Computer and Digital Forensics,” Jakub explained.

“I did a lot of research around the subject and the career prospects really jumped out at me. I’m also a very practical, hands-on learner which basically summed up this course. I’m able to practice problem solving which is something I’ve always enjoyed.”

Becoming career-ready has been an important aspect of Jakub’s university decisions, which is set to continue throughout his studies. “My course offers a study abroad opportunity, which I can’t wait to take advantage of,” he said.

“I’m hoping to travel to either the USA or Japan and work for a big tech company such as Google or Apple. They have great IT positions and starting a new role in a new country will show employers that I can adapt to new environments. I think being immersed in a different culture whilst continuing working towards my degree, is also really exciting.”

Jakub moved from a small village to the city of Newcastle and was initially nervous about the change, saying: “Newcastle felt like a big city to me but it’s very easy to get around. The city campus is close to everything, which is great because you can pop into town between lectures and grab food or go shopping.

“It’s an ideal city! The nightlife is great, but there’s also minigolf, VR activities and more. There’s always something to do here.”

Reflecting on his time at Northumbria so far, Jakub said: “The great thing about my course is that I have everything I need to succeed on campus. There are places to work and even dedicated computers with the software I need for my course. There’s also a pretty big gym which is great and has loads of classes.

“I was worried that I had left my application too late, but I was shown that getting into university is very achievable through Clearing. The Northumbria hotline take really good care of you, so just go for it – you’ve got nothing to lose!”.

ֲýƵ has a limited number of places available for high quality students through Clearing this summer. For more information, visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/clearing or call the Clearing Hotline on 0800 085 1085.
