Matthew Bullman

Matthew, originally from Bristol, decided to come through the clearing process after not getting the grades he expected on results day.

Initially, Matthew had planned to take a gap year. Instead, he applied to complete a one year foundation course, which would lead him onto his chosen business degree.

Having not known anything about Clearing before applying, Matthew said: “My experience of Northumbria’s clearing process was actually really easy and enjoyable. The person I spoke with on the phone walked me through the process and the courses I could apply for through clearing. They made the options understandable, so that when I did make the decision I was really comfortable.”

Clearing can be seen as quite a frantic process, but you just need to be calm and collected when phoning the university and not rush anything. It also helps to have a clear understanding of what course you’re getting yourself into. Speaking about his time at university, Matthew said: “The campus has great architecture. My favourite part about studying at Northumbria is the facilities available such as the library and the Business School.”

Matthew also believes that Northumbria has enabled him to connect with alumni and showcase his entrepreneurial skills. “I enjoy the freedom of my course and Northumbria has provided the opportunity to create and sell products in market.”

"Overall my student experience at Northumbria has been very productive. Being part of the rugby society has allowed me to meet so many people and to interact with the university and the culture of Newcastle.”

ֲýƵ has a limited number of places available for high quality students through Clearing this summer. For more information, visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/clearing or call the Clearing Hotline on 0800 085 1085.
