�ֲ���ý��Ƶ

The ‘Converge Northumbria’ programme, a scheme to offer university education opportunities to adults with mental health issues on Tyneside, is a collaboration between �ֲ���ý��Ƶ, Newcastle and the Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group.

The programme is based on a model developed by York St John University and its purpose is to offer high quality educational opportunities to adults who currently use NHS and non-statutory mental health services in the Newcastle and Gateshead areas in order to aid their recovery and reduce their need for support.

Converge Northumbria is led by a group including representatives from �ֲ���ý��Ƶ, Newcastle NHS Foundation Trust, Newcastle and Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group, public health, the voluntary sector and the cultural sector and with input from the Tyneside Recovery College. 

�ֲ���ý��Ƶ students help to deliver the courses, working with a wide range of adults who use mental health services in the Newcastle and Gateshead areas, covering a range of ages, conditions and legal status within the mental health system. It offersprofessional development opportunities for Northumbria students' aswell as a chance to develop skills in supporting adults with mental health issues and it is hoped that the programme will also provide opportunities for Converge students to progress to further programmes of study in higher education and employability, as well as boost the employability of the students who volunteer to support its delivery.
