Dr Victoria McIver

Assistant Professor

School: Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation

Victoria is an Assistant Professor in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, having completed her PhD in Nutritional Physiology at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2020. Before this, Victoria completed a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise (Exercise and Health specialism) and a Master's by Research (MRes) at Edge Hill University.

Victoria’s research focuses on understanding how nutrition, diet and exercise strategies influence gastrointestinal function, appetite regulation, and metabolic health to support health and well-being. More recently, Victoria's work has focused on female physiology, exploring how hormonal fluctuations across different life stages (including menstruation, peri-menopause, and post-menopause) influence appetite regulation, metabolic responses, and health outcomes.

Victoria is a registered nutritionist (RNutr) and has previously served as the programme leader for the MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition. Victoria primarily teaches on the BSc Sport and Exercise Science, BSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition, and MSc Sport and Exercise Nutrition, covering modules such as Exercise Physiology, Exercise Metabolism, and Nutrition for Health.
