Join Us for the North East Data Innovation Exchange (NDIE) Sandpit Event

We are excited to invite you to a collaborative sandpit event, sponsored by Atom Bank, Mediaworks, Finpact CIC, and Northumbria University, where we will explore opportunities for developing the new North East Data Innovation Exchange (NDIE). This collaborative session aims to bring together thought leaders, academics, innovators, and stakeholders to brainstorm and co-create solutions that leverage data for regional growth and innovation.

About NDIE:

While still in its infancy, the NDIE is a transformative initiative designed to address systemic challenges across the North East. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, fostering collaboration, and integrating secure data-sharing frameworks, NDIE aims to enable societal resilience, economic growth, and sustainable development through the democratisation of data for social, environmental, and economic good.

NDIE is a collaborative ecosystem that unites academia, industry, government, and communities to develop talent, unified data, technology, AI, expertise, skills, and capabilities for regional, UK, and global impact.

During the Sandpit, we will:

• Identify key challenges and opportunities in the data innovation landscape.
• Discuss potential projects and initiatives that can drive data-driven growth.
• Enable partnerships and collaborations to support the North East Data Innovation Exchange.

Focus Areas:

These focus areas address critical challenges and align with regional priorities to achieve revolutionary change and impact. As a starter for ten, these may include:

• Poverty and Inequality: Reduce child poverty by X% within five years through financial inclusion and interventions.
• Environment: Reduce carbon emissions by X% by 2030 through shared data and sustainability innovation.
• Transport & Connection: Improve transport and access to digital connectivity for all through quick-win projects.
• Food Insecurity: Enhance access to nutritious food via affordability and behavioural insights.
• Health & Equity: Address root causes of financial and health impact challenges using shared data. Address regional pay disparities through targeted data insights for better living.
