Beginning with one man’s big idea in the 1960’s, the Quorn story takes us on a 60 year journey of scientific endeavour, food creation and eye watering investments, but ultimately the creation of a healthy new protein with a low environmental impact able to help address the biggest challenge facing agri-food, namely how do we change the way we eat to assure a sustainable food future? This stimulating lecture marks the inauguration at ֲýƵ of Visiting Professor Tim Finnigan, former Chief Scientific Officer at Quorn Foods.
About the Speaker
Professor Tim Finnigan is a Visiting Professor at ֲýƵ and served as Chief Scientific Officer at Quorn Foods, responsible for the research collaborations that underpin their agenda for sustainable nutrition. With over 30 years at Quorn, Tim designed many of the products, processes and intellectual property held by the company, as well as advancing an ever deeper scientific understanding of Quorn mycoprotein and its contemporary role in assuring a sustainable food future. A PhD graduate from the Food and Biosciences faculty of the University of Reading and has held innovation roles in UK government food research, Kraft General Foods, APV, RHM, AstraZeneca and Premier Foods.He has been instrumental in helping to establish Quorn Foods as the world's leading sustainable protein business.
