Lindsey Ellen Tulip-Pearson

Midwifery

Where are you from?

Newcastle upon Tyne

Why did you choose ֲýƵ, Newcastle?

Northumbria has an excellent reputation in my chosen area of study and is extremely local to me for managing a home/study balance.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle obviously. It's a vibrant region with generally happy, friendly people. I love taking my Daughter to the regions attractions but we also enjoy cycling on the many scenic tracks and waggonways.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I've lived here all of my life so I am never surprised when others tell me how friendly and welcoming it is.

Did you find ֲýƵ welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Very welcoming. I made lots of friends straight away and all of the staff at every level make you feel very much part of something from day one.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to ֲýƵ?

The feeling of progressing towards something meaningful.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My fellow students and the lecturers.

Who has inspired you most at ֲýƵ?

The students a year ahead of us on our course. Their advice has been essential in allaying our fears and worries.

What is your favourite place on campus?

At the moment, the Library. I am slowly finding my way around the Midwifery section and working on my first assignments.

What is the best thing about your course?

Again the feeling that I'm working towards something meaningful and fulfilling. Knowing that I am setting a positive example for my young Daughter.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Be organised and never be afraid to ask questions. Speak out, be involved!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Community Midwife. I'm learning to be more neutral in my opinions in order to give a rounded, well informed service to my patients.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Definitely make Northumbria your first choice. Take the leap, work hard and the rewards will pay off in spades.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at ֲýƵ, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I am more organised and I'm happier. Also a lot busier!

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Engaging, busy, fun!

Would you recommend ֲýƵ to a friend?

Definitely!
