This page contains all of the information you need to get your journey with us off to the best start, with details of how to enrol, the essential tasks you need to complete and your induction schedule.

Before you arrive

Check your personal email for your enrolment invitation (sent from noreplyadmissions@northumbria.ac.uk). This contains your Northumbria username and password. 

Use these details to log in to your to enrol and and access other university systems including your timetable.

  • Forgot or don't have a username and/or password?
  • For any other IT problems, contact our IT Service Desk.

If you need visa or immigration permission to study in the UK, you must complete a two-step enrolment process before beginning your studies.

Step 1: Online Pre-registration (before you travel to the UK)

Complete this step as soon as you receive your enrolment email and before you travel to the UK.

  • Log in to the using your University username and password.
  • From the dashboard, select Enrol, then choose Register for your programme.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your pre-registration.

Step 2: Upload your Visa Documents and your eVisa Share Code for verification (as soon as you arrive in the UK)

As soon as possible after you arrive in the UK, you must upload your visa documents and your eVisa share code for verification via the . It can take up to 5 working days to complete the verification process, and a further 2 working days before you can access your timetable, University systems and collect your Smartcard.

As well as links to essential Northumbria information such as your timetable, your virtual learning environment (Blackboard) and Library Online, you can also use the Portal to read the latest Northumbria news stories, keep your personal details updated and check your finance and accommodation status.  

If you have any questions during your time at Northumbria, you can search  in your Student Portal for the answer, or submit an enquiry via the text box at the end of each article and a member of our team will get back to you.

When you arrive

As soon as you arrive in the UK you must complete Step 2 of the enrolment process.

Step 2: Upload Your Visa Documents and eVisa Share Code for Verification (as soon as you arrive in the UK)

As soon as you arrive in the UK, you must upload your visa documents and your eVisa share code via the . Please ensure you do this as soon as possible. Verification can take up to 5 working days, and it can take a further 2 working days to access your timetable, University systems and collect your Smartcard.

Once your enrolment is complete you will receive a confirmation email to your University email address and personal email address.

After you have received confirmation of enrolment, please allow up to 48 hours for systems, such as your timetable to be ready. 

You can then:

  • this shows when and where your classes are.

  • your student ID, Library and Students' Union card. You also need this to access University buildings and register your attendance.
  • Attend your programme induction: an important introduction to your course and the University (see below for details).
  • Complete mandatory Consent and Bystander training: Details of how to access and complete this training will be emailed to you.
