Dr. Temitope Lawal

Dr Temitope Lawal is a Research Fellow at ֲýƵ, where he is part of the PROBabLE Futures team, developing a framework for the responsible use of probabilistic AI systems in law enforcement. With a strong focus on the intersection of law, technology, and public policy, Temitope’s expertise lies in addressing the legal and ethical implications of emerging technologies.

Temitope has held various academic and government roles, including serving as a Legal and Regulatory Manager at the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigeria’s independent regulator of communications services. He was also a Co-coordinator of the Internet Law Research Clinic at Bond University, Australia and practised law in Banwo & Ighodalo, one of Africa’s leading law firms. More recently, Temitope was a Research Fellow at the Australian National University, where he co-led the successful development and delivery of Australia’s first tech policy professional development course.

Temitope is a Nigerian-qualified barrister and solicitor. He holds a PhD from Bond University, Australia, an LLM in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom, and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He is also a Fellow at the Centre for Space, Cyberspace, and Data Law at Bond University and a member of the Law, Literature, and Humanities Association of Australia.
