Dr Emily Hume

Assistant Professor

School: Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation

I am an Assistant Professor in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation at ֲýƵ, where I completed my PhD in 2022. I previously studied at the University of Brighton (BSc) and Northumbria (MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology).

My research focuses on optimising physical activity, exercise capacity and quality of life in people living with chronic respiratory conditions and following lung transplantation, using both traditional rehabilitation approaches and digital health technologies. I am also a member of multi-centre consortia including Mobilise-D, which focuses on real-world digital mobility assessment, and PHOSP-R, a randomised controlled trial of exercise-based rehabilitation for people hospitalised with COVID-19.

I teach across the BSc Sport and Exercise Science, MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology and BSc Physiotherapy programmes.
