The S3PARK WORKSHOP (Synergy between Spacecraft and Simulations data of Particle Acceleration, Reconnection, & other Kinetic processes) will be held from Monday 14th to Friday 18th September 2026 at ֲýƵ, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.

The S3PARK WORKSHOP 2026 will be the first one of what is intended to be a series of workshops that will repeat every 3 years in Newcastle, establishing Northumbria as the UK centre for the field. It will bring together world-leading experts in numerical modelling, spacecraft mission/instrument PIs, and early-career scientists working on turbulent space plasmas. Its main goal is to foster an increasingly synergistic and cohesive community of plasma theorists, modellers, and observational experts — using numerical simulations to interpret spacecraft data and inform the design of future missions — in order to maximise the scientific return of current and upcoming space missions and advance our understanding of space plasma processes.

The workshop will feature keynote talks by world-leading experts in space missions and numerical simulations spanning different, complementary modelling approaches. Ample time will be devoted to round-table discussions on key scientific themes and on community-building topics, alongside lectures and hands-on sessions for PGR students and ECRs.

The deadline for abstract submission (talks and posters) and for registration will be announced soon.

We strongly encourage graduate students and early-career postdocs to participate and engage with the experts. Thanks to financial support from the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society, their registration fee will be fully covered. We also expect to offer limited funding to support PhD candidates and ECRs with travel and accommodation costs; further details will be available soon.

While abstracts are not required for participation, preference will be given to those who submit one, as places are limited to 60 participants.
